WBCS honors business conducted between itsmembers at TOP T.E.N.

On March 25, the Women’s Business Council – Southwest held its DFW TOP T.E.N.(Trends, Education and Networking)event at the Dallas Marriott Las Colinas. During the event, the WBCS Done Deals committee premiered the 2nd Generation of Done Deals — business deals conducted between WBCS sustaining members and WBEs and WBE-to-WBE business deals.
To start, Larry Caldwell,WBCS chair and vice president of purchasing for PepsiCo, gave opening remarks, welcomed guests to the event and introduced the Co-chairs for Southwest Women’s businessWORKS!
WBE Cochair Royalyn Reid, president, Consumer & Market Insights, Inc. and corporate Co-chair Mike Warrick,minority/women’s business development,Texas Instruments, discussed the newly revamped businessWORKS conference and encouraged all guests to attend.
WBCS President Debbie Hurst followed,revealing the 2nd Generation of Done Deals and announcing that 13 sustaining members did a total of $102 million worth of business with WBEs in the fourth quarter of 2007 — a huge accomplishment!
The 13 sustaining members were Alcatel-Lucent; Baylor Health Care System; BNSF Railway; Capgemini Energy; Dell, Inc.; Fluor; Frito-Lay, Inc.;JCPenney Co., Inc.; Lockheed Martin;Sabre Holdings;Southwest Airlines;Texas Instruments; and Oncor.
The following are this year’s TOPT.E.N. winners, reporting the most Done Deals in 2007:
WBE Winners
First place:Wynne Sedan & Limousine(3,004 Done Deals)
Second place: IMAP Global Logistics(1,117 Done Deals)
Third place: Marfield CorporateStationery (827 Done Deals)
Corporate Winners
First place: JCPenney(6,288 Done Deals)
Second place: Texas Instruments(2,572 Done Deals)
Third place: Alcatel-Lucent(2,025 Done Deals)
In addition to the six winners, WBCS also honored one WBE and one sustaining member with a Momentum Award,companies that had seen a significant increase in reported Done Deals.
Those companies were –
WBE:Peak Promotions(320 percent increase);
and corporate:Belo Corp. (1,610 percent increase).
After the award announcements,attendees competed in creating skits pertaining to different Done Deal categories and only one team was declared the winner, followed by networking in order to create more Done Deals. Event sponsors were CFj Manufacturing, EDS and Fluor.
